Tropical Breeze
Tropical Breeze
Tropical Breeze by Beatrice Morel, oil & ink, 80x100cm, 2024.
"Tropical Breeze" is an evocative exploration of the serene moments during a sunset in a lush, tropical paradise. The composition invites the viewer into a landscape where nature and sky seamlessly merge through a delicate interplay of pastel tones.
In the bottom left corner, the painting bursts with life through a rich palette of greens, each shade layered and textured to suggest the density and variety of tropical foliage. The greens vary from pale mint, suggestive of new growth kissed by sunlight, to deep, velvety sage, hinting at the more shadowed, ancient parts of the jungle. The brushstrokes in this section are fluid yet intentional, mimicking the subtle sway of leaves caught in a gentle breeze.
As your eyes move across the canvas, the greens gradually dissolve into a soft, glowing yellow at the center-right. This yellow represents the sun at its most glorious, just as it begins to dip towards the horizon. It's a golden hue, warm and enveloping, that dominates the middle ground with a sense of both radiance and calm. The yellow is punctuated by whispers of peach, blush pink, and hints of lavender, capturing the sky's transformation as daylight fades. These colors softly blend into one another, creating a gradient that conveys the sky’s soft transition from day to dusk.
The composition as a whole is unified by a sense of movement, as if the breeze itself is gently guiding the colors across the canvas. There's a subtle rhythm to the way the greens flow into yellows, and how the pastels merge to create a cohesive, tranquil atmosphere. The painting captures not just the visual beauty of a tropical sunset, but also the intangible feeling of warmth, calm, and peace that such a moment brings. It invites the viewer to pause, breathe, and lose themselves in the serene beauty of nature's quiet evening symphony.
